Who we are
Kurgu Tools is a brand of Smart V SRL, Brussels, Belgium, which is responsible for the personal data described here. Questions and requests: support@kurgutools.com.
What we collect and why
- Your account: your name, e-mail address and password. The password is only stored as a secure hash by our login provider – nobody can read it. We need these to give you an account and licences.
- Your licences: which licences belong to your account, when they were activated and when they end.
- Your computers: when you activate SwitchCut, an anonymous computer code (a one-way code made from the computer's hardware ID – the ID itself never leaves your computer), the computer's name, whether it is a Mac or Windows PC, the SwitchCut version and when it last checked in. This lets us keep to the number of computers per licence and lets you release a computer yourself.
- Security: the internet (IP) address of sign-ups, activations and wrong licence keys, to stop abuse.
- Problem reports you send from SwitchCut: your message, your e-mail address and, if you include it, the app's log file – it lists the names of the files and folders SwitchCut worked on and your computer's system details, never any video or audio. We use it only to find and fix the problem.
- E-mails you send us, to answer them.
What we don't do
No advertising, no tracking cookies and no analytics. Your video and audio files are processed only on your own computer and are never uploaded to us.
On this website
When you log in, your login session is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay logged in. Logging out removes it. The website sets no other cookies and uses fonts hosted on our own server.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase – accounts and the licence database, on servers in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Cloudflare – this website, and forwarding e-mails sent to our addresses.
- Resend – sending account e-mails (confirmation and password reset).
- GitHub – hosting the app downloads and updates. GitHub sees your IP address when you download a file.
Legal basis and how long we keep data
We process account, licence and computer data to provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract), and security records because we have a legitimate interest in preventing abuse. Account and licence data are kept as long as your account exists; security records only as long as needed to prevent abuse. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or export your data, and object to or restrict its use. Write to support@kurgutools.com. You can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
